African Union mediators meet M23 in Goma as Kenyatta consults Kigali
Three former presidents visited the rebel-held city on Monday. A day later Uhuru Kenyatta was in Rwanda to discuss how to move two parallel peace tracks forward.

Kigali — Rwanda's foreign minister, Olivier Nduhungirehe, has received former Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta in Kigali to discuss efforts to end the conflict in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, The New Times reports.
Kenyatta is a member of the African Union's Panel of Facilitators for the peace process. The meeting on 6 October came a day after an AU delegation travelled to Goma, the eastern Congolese city held by the AFC/M23 rebel alliance, and met its leadership, including its political coordinator, Corneille Nangaa.
The delegation also included former Ethiopian President Sahle-Work Zewde and former Botswana President Mokgweetsi Masisi.
Two tracks
Peace efforts are running on two separate tracks. The Washington Accords, signed on 4 December 2025, deal with relations between Rwanda and DR Congo. The Doha process covers the conflict inside DR Congo, between the government in Kinshasa and the AFC/M23.
The AU facilitators are trying to keep both moving. The report did not give details of what was agreed in either meeting.
