A vending machine that sells gold and silver bars and coins has gone into service at a shopping mall in Cairo, Daily News Egypt reports.

The machine, at Nile City Towers Mall, is the first of its kind from the bullion company BTC in Egypt. Customers pay by card.

It offers gold ingots weighing from 0.25 to 2.5 grams and silver ingots from five to 100 grams, along with coins.

From trial to launch

BTC began testing the machine in 2025. Its chief executive, Hassan Nassar, said that "moving to the official launch phase of automated retail in Egypt reflects the company's direction toward diversifying its sales channels".

The company plans to expand the model. It also operates in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman.

The report does not give prices.
