Three clubs from the Democratic Republic of Congo will cross the river to Brazzaville for the first round of the Road to BAL and the qualifiers for the Women's Basketball League Africa (WBLA), from 24 to 28 October, Actualité.cd reports.

The men: BC SCTP

BC SCTP, formerly Onatra, returns to African competition 20 years after its last campaign. Drawn in Group C of the West Division of the Road to BAL 2027, the Kinshasa side must finish in the top two to reach the Elite 16, to be played in Abidjan in November.

The women: CNSS and Hatari

  • BC CNSS, the Congolese champions and regulars in the competition, are aiming for the WBLA finals and to confirm their dominance of Zone 4.
  • BC Hatari, the national runners-up, want to shake up the established order.

They will face strong opposition from Cameroon, Gabon and the hosts, Republic of Congo. The delegation's aim, Actualité.cd says, is to bring qualifying tickets back to Kinshasa and show that the DRC remains a major basketball nation in Central Africa.
