Egypt's Industrial Development Authority is offering 400 ready-to-operate factory units to small investors and entrepreneurs, Daily News Egypt reports.

What is on offer

  • Units of 48 to 960 square metres, fully built and connected to utilities.
  • In 11 industrial complexes across 10 governorates, from Alexandria and Monufia to Minya, Assiut, Sohag, Luxor, Qena and Aswan.
  • For engineering, food processing, chemicals, metalworking, pharmaceuticals, leather, textiles and building materials.
  • To buy, or at three complexes to rent.

Applications run from 15 to 29 October through the Egypt Industrial Digital Platform, where units are reserved and tender documents bought online.

Why

The authority's chairperson, Nahed Youssef, said the idea is to let small investors start producing without paying for construction or infrastructure. The package includes financial incentives, simpler licensing and access to bank finance, and applicants can draw on the national small-business agency for machinery, technical help and marketing.

Some of the units were recently taken back from previous holders who had left them unused or missed their deadlines, so that they go to investors focused on production and jobs.
