Gauteng starts repairs on seven Tshwane bridges
Work on bridges over the Hennops River and on the R511 and R514 will repair rails, joints and concrete and widen some approaches.

Pretoria — Gauteng's Department of Roads and Transport has begun rehabilitating seven bridges on provincial roads in and around the City of Tshwane, the government news agency SAnews reports.
The Roads and Transport MEC, Kedibone Diale-Tlabela, said the work would restore the bridges' structural condition and keep them safe for motorists, pedestrians and nearby communities. A sod-turning on Tuesday was attended by Tshwane's MMC for Roads and Transport, Tlangi Mogale.
The bridges
- B59 and B1015, on the R101 over the Hennops River, south of Vhalala
- B2114, on gravel road D775, southwest of Atteridgeville
- B637, B649 and B760, on the R511, southwest of Atteridgeville
- B142, on the R514 (Van der Hoff Road), northwest of Tshwane
The work
Repairs follow the department's bridge management system and include fixing rails and parapets, painting steel, replacing joints, sealing cracks, repairing flaking concrete, widening some bridges and approaches, resurfacing and improving guardrails.
The MEC described it as a long-term investment that keeps roads reliable for commuters, businesses and freight, with construction bringing local economic benefits. Motorists are asked to take care through the work zones.
