Jali and Nyatama chase Marumo Gallants for unpaid money
A South African court has refused to treat the club's bid to protect its R2.3 million monthly league grant as urgent.

Johannesburg — The former midfielder Andile Jali and the former coach Musa Nyatama are trying to recover money they say they are owed by the South African top-flight club Marumo Gallants, by claiming it from the club's monthly league grant, the Mail & Guardian reports.
Nyatama is owed nearly R5.3 million in outstanding salary. Jali was awarded R880,000 for image rights in a separate judgment.
How the debt arose
Gallants inherited the obligations when they acquired the league status of Moroka Swallows.
The club has gone to court to stop deductions from the R2.3 million it receives each month from the Premier Soccer League. It learned in February that deductions were coming, began a review in April and applied for an urgent interdict in June.
What the judge said
Judge Shanaaz Mia was not persuaded that the matter was urgent. "The prejudice alleged is essentially financial," she said. The application was struck from the urgent roll in September and returns to the ordinary court roll.
A deduction expected in August was not made. Review proceedings are still pending.
