Korea and Egypt's women's council wrap up three years of training on women-led business
KOICA's programme with Egypt's National Council for Women drew on Korea's experience of supporting women's employment and small enterprises.

Cairo — The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and Egypt's National Council for Women (NCW) have concluded a three-year training programme on gender and small business, "Capacity Building on Gender/SME in Egypt (2024-2026)", with a knowledge-sharing seminar in Cairo on 15 October, Daily News Egypt reports.
The programme set out to strengthen the NCW's ability to shape policy on women's employment, entrepreneurship and small and medium-sized enterprises, drawing on Korea's development experience.
Six years of partnership
- Between 2020 and 2026, six training courses reached about 90 participants from the NCW and partner ministries.
- Five NCW staff members earned master's degrees in international development in Korea.
- In all, 2,187 Egyptians have taken part in KOICA's training and scholarship programmes since its Egypt office opened in 1998.
NCW president Amal Ammar called the partnership a successful model built on investing in people and said she looks forward to building on it, especially in support of women entrepreneurs and small business owners, now that Egypt-Korea relations have been raised to a strategic partnership. Assistant foreign minister Wael El Nagaar said supporting women-led enterprises advances Egypt Vision 2030. KOICA's country director, Sooyoung Park, said the end of the programme was a new step, not an endpoint, and urged that its results be turned into policies and practical action.
