Lagos Life: the Nigerian browser game that drew seven million players in ten days
Built by Shalom Rayhamen, who began her tech journey at a training centre in Aba, the Lagos life simulator has raised $500,000 at a $10m valuation and now wants other developers to build games inside it.

Lagos — A free browser game set in Lagos has become one of Nigeria's fastest-growing tech stories. Lagos Life, a life simulation in the style of The Sims, passed 7 million players in its first ten days, its creator, Shalom Rayhamen, announced on X, Techpoint Africa reports.
Players create characters, find jobs, earn virtual money, rent homes and mingle in a shared digital Lagos. The game makes its money by renting virtual billboards to real businesses.
The numbers
- Launched on 1 October 2026; passed 1 million players within three days
- More than 1.4 million active players in a single day and 36.5 million visits
- Up to 64,000 people playing at the same moment
- A $500,000 seed round valuing the company at $10 million, with backers including the chief executives of Flutterwave, Terra Industries and Mono
What's next
Rayhamen says the team will release APIs so that developers can build their own games inside Lagos Life, where players would use their existing accounts and in-game money. No release date or revenue-sharing terms have been announced.
She began her tech journey at LearnFactory, a training centre in Aba, according to its chief executive, Chibueze Ukaegbu; Flutterwave's chief executive responded by asking how he could support the centre.
