Mahama tells new envoys to judge diplomacy by the jobs it brings home
Ghana's ambassadors to Angola, Qatar and Israel and its envoy in Geneva were sworn in with instructions to find investors, open markets and look after Ghanaians abroad.

Accra — President John Dramani Mahama has sworn in four envoys and told them that diplomacy should be judged by the opportunities and jobs it creates, MyJoyOnline reports.
The new envoys
- Nana Antwiwaa Dodoo, Angola
- Louis Kwame Obeng, Qatar
- Evelyn Korantemaa Ofosu-Amable, Israel
- Jedidiah Reuben Adogla, permanent representative to the UN in Geneva
Their instructions
At the ceremony at Jubilee House on 16 October, part of the government's "Reset Agenda", Mahama asked them to:
- find investors whose interests match Ghana's development priorities, and help Ghanaian businesses enter foreign markets
- build partnerships for skills, research and technology transfer, and promote local processing of natural resources
- make consular services efficient and put Ghanaians abroad first
He said Ghana's application for partnership with BRICS aims to widen its development ties among developing economies without undermining its traditional partners. He asked the ambassador to Israel to uphold Ghana's position on Palestine: Ghana recognises the State of Palestine and supports a two-state solution with Israel and Palestine living side by side in peace and security.
