South Africa to make its case for Africa's first Olympic Games
The country is one of seven invited to present a bid for 2036 in November, though Qatar is widely seen as the favourite.

PANM — South Africa has been named as one of seven countries that will formally present their case to host the 2036 Olympic Games, Africanews reports. No African country has ever staged the Olympics.
The seven are due to appear before the International Olympic Committee's future host commission in November. The other six are Qatar, India, Hungary, Turkey, Germany and South Korea.
A long road
The presentations are the first step in a process that is expected to end with a vote in 2029.
South Africa's bid is regarded as an outsider, according to the report. Qatar is widely seen as the frontrunner, partly because of the perceived strength of its bid and partly because Asia will not have hosted a Summer Games since Tokyo 2020. A Games in Doha would have to move from the usual July–August dates because of the heat.
India is considered Qatar's main rival, although its bid is thought to have lost ground over the past year and a half.
