Tunis Re, the Tunisian reinsurance company (Société tunisienne de réassurance), reported revenue of 182.9 million dinars, about $60.7 million, for the nine months to 30 September 2026, Financial Afrik reports.

The numbers

  • Nine months to September 2026: TND 182.9 million.
  • Same period of 2025: TND 179.3 million.
  • Growth: about 2%, or roughly TND 3.6 million.

What drove it

The increase came from Retakaful, reinsurance that follows Islamic finance principles, where accepted premiums grew. A detailed breakdown by business line was not available in the published summary.

Why it matters

Reinsurers take on part of the risk that insurance companies write, so a strong regional reinsurer lets North African and other African insurers cover bigger risks without sending all of that business abroad. Tunis Re's figures show its Islamic reinsurance line adding to that capacity.
