Advertising terms
The terms that apply when you book advertising, sponsorship or a community notice with Pan African News Media.
Booking and payment
A booking is confirmed when we have received payment in full. Prices are in US dollars. Card payments are taken by Stripe, our payment provider; we do not see or store your card number.
Launch rates apply to the booking you pay for and do not carry over to later bookings unless we agree that in writing.
Your materials
After payment we ask you for your artwork or video, the web address your advertising links to, your preferred dates and your approval. Please send them at least two working days before the date you want to start. If materials arrive late, your campaign starts later and runs for the full period you booked.
You confirm that you own or have permission to use everything in your materials, that what they say is accurate and lawful where they will be seen, and that they do not infringe anyone else's rights. You are responsible for claims that arise from the content of your advertising.
Our checks
Every advertisement, sponsorship and notice is checked before it appears and is labelled so that readers and viewers can tell it apart from our journalism. We may ask for changes, and we may decline or remove advertising that is misleading, unlawful or at odds with our editorial standards. If we decline your materials and you do not wish to change them, we refund what you paid.
Advertisers and sponsors have no say over what we report, including reporting about them.
Dates and delivery
We run your advertising in the positions and for the period booked. We do not promise a particular number of views or clicks. If a fault on our side keeps your advertising off the site or the channel for part of the period, we extend the campaign by the time lost.
Reports
Each booking has a private report showing how many times your advertising was shown and clicked. The figures are our own counts, are totals only, and do not identify individual readers or viewers. Mentions in our email newsletter and names on our About page are not counted.
Cancelling
If you cancel before your advertising has started, we refund what you paid, less any production work already done at your request. Once a campaign has started, the booking is not refundable, but you may pause it or change your materials. Refunds go back to the card used to pay.
Your details
We use the details you give us to manage your booking and to contact you about it, as set out in our privacy policy. The private links we send you give access to your booking, so share them only with colleagues who need them.
