Carthage music festival returns with Tunisia's own stars
After nearly two years away, the festival drew a young crowd with 26 acts from 15 countries, at least 60% of them Tunisian.

Tunis — Tunisia's Carthage Music Days have returned to the capital after a break of nearly two years, with a programme built around the country's own musicians, Africanews reports.
The eleventh edition presented 26 groups from 15 countries, chosen from 378 applications. At least 60% of the artists are Tunisian. The audience was mostly young.
On stage
The rapper VIPA filled the 1,800-seat Théâtre de l'Opéra, performing with 20 musicians. He described the project as one "where we were missing one member from the line-up, the audience".
On another stage, the band Saharage mixed heavy metal with traditional North African sounds. Its singer and bassist, Zaher Ben Abdallah, said the songs imagine an "apocalyptic future in which there has been a step backwards".
Molka Aouij, a singer, dancer and actor, presented "Back To My Roots", which blends Arabic music with electronic pop, dance and visuals. She is the daughter of the Tunisian singer Amina Fakhet.
"My inspiration comes mainly from Tunisia, from our roots," she said. Her aim was to "showcase and really highlight our artists, our potential, and our outstanding performers".
