The Nigerian Afro-soul singer Kayefi headlined Tales & Tunes 2026 in Sheffield, an evening of live music, African fashion, dance and food for which the producer ID Cabasa directed the music, Premium Times reports.

The night opened with a runway show of African-inspired and modern designs from labels including Utana Stitches, Hope 4 Sheffield, All Things Kayefi, Grei Linage and Everything Coloured.

A voice note and a letter

Kayefi, whose full name is Lawal Olufunmilayo and who is from Ogun State, gave what the paper called an emotional performance. She played a voice note from her late father and read a letter her grandmother wrote to him in the early 1970s.

"I have long wanted to create a space where music, fashion, dance, food, storytelling and the entire African Traditions would corroborate and stay in the minds of the people," she said.

Also on the bill

Other performers included Eyinju Eledumare, iPraiz, Mitchyx, Ehi and the Surayi Dancers, with the dancers Damodance and Dancewithabby and DJ sets from Àrònì, DJ Lorna T and DJ Pee.
