Kipruto wins Chicago Marathon in 2:01:09
The Kenyan broke clear with seven kilometres to go for a personal best. Ethiopia's Hawi Feysa kept the women's title.

Chicago — Kenya's Amos Kipruto won the Chicago Marathon on Sunday in two hours, one minute and nine seconds, a personal best, The Standard reports.
Kipruto, 34, pulled away from the leading group at around 32 kilometres and was not caught. It is the second-fastest winning time in the race's history, behind the 2:00:35 that the late Kelvin Kiptum ran there in 2023.
He had finished third in Chicago in 2024 and second last year.

Ethiopia's Hawi Feysa retained her title in 2:13:33, accelerating late to beat Kenya's Sharon Lokedi.

Reaction
"We salute Team Kenya for making us proud at the Chicago Marathon," said President William Ruto.
Felix Koskei, the head of Kenya's public service, addressed Kipruto directly: "Somewhere in Kenya, a young athlete watching you cross that finish line has found a reason to keep going."
