TikTok says it did not cut access in northern Nigeria
Users in four states have struggled to load or upload videos since mid-September. Civil society groups want to know whether someone ordered it.

Kano — TikTok says it is not responsible for the problems users in parts of northern Nigeria have had reaching the platform, the News Agency of Nigeria reports, as carried by Premium Times.
The company's head of communications for sub-Saharan Africa, Keagile Makgoba, said on Monday that the restriction had not been put in place by TikTok. The company is working with the relevant parties to resolve it, she said, and remains committed to keeping the service available.
What users report
Since 14 September, people in Kaduna, Kebbi, Kano and Sokoto have had difficulty loading videos, viewing content and uploading material, according to a coalition of civil society organisations.
The demand
The coalition has called for an independent investigation. It wants the authorities and the telecommunications operators to establish the cause and to say publicly whether a directive or a technical fault lies behind it.
The report does not include a response from the regulator or from the mobile networks.
