The DRC's Authority for the Regulation of Subcontracting in the Private Sector (ARSP) is urging businesses in Maniema to get ready for cassiterite (tin ore) mining, with production due to start in 2027.

ARSP director-general Juan Ted Beleshayi Kasanda met Governor Moïse Mussa Kabwankubi in Kindu on Saturday 24 October to discuss the provincial economy and projects that could bring Congolese firms into subcontracting.

Getting in early

Several companies have shown interest in producing cassiterite in the province, he said. His strategy is to anticipate these investments so local businesses can position themselves and win subcontracts from the day work begins.

  • Local firms are urged to prepare now to meet the needs of incoming investors; the ARSP says it will help them.
  • Local hiring is a priority, and candidates should prepare for the jobs, though he cautioned that the number of posts will be limited.

The goal, he said, is that Maniema's businesses and communities share in the benefits of the investment, within the law.
