Mauritania signs two offshore oil exploration contracts with Murphy
The deals cover blocks C10 and Tiof, but the financial terms and drilling commitments have not been made public.

Nouakchott — Mauritania signed two production-sharing contracts with the US company Murphy Oil in Nouakchott on Tuesday, covering the offshore blocks C10 and Tiof.
Energy and Petroleum Minister Mohamed Abdel Vetah signed for the government and Christopher Charles Olson, Murphy's senior vice president for exploration, for the company. President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani received the delegation before the ceremony.
The financial terms, investment commitments, seismic schedules and any drilling obligations have not been disclosed. Financial Afrik notes that the real value will depend on what Murphy actually spends and finds, and on local content, skills and revenue-sharing terms.
The signing adds to Mauritania's growing energy story. The Grand Tortue Ahmeyim gas project, shared with Senegal, began production in 2025 and is the first major liquefied gas export project for both countries.
