Commercial International Bank – Egypt (CIB) has been named on Fortune's 2026 Change the World list in the Economic Empowerment category, the only bank from Africa and the Middle East on this year's list.

It was chosen for its role as financial adviser on an EGP 7 billion sustainable social sukuk, an Islamic finance bond that channels capital to small and medium-sized enterprises and widens access to finance for underserved groups.

Chief executive Hisham Ezz El-Arab said the bank was proud to be on the list for the second time. He said the sukuk shows how financial innovation can direct capital to projects and sectors that deliver real economic and social impact.
