Nigeria's under-17 women, the Flamingos, play North Korea today, Friday 23 October, at 4pm Nigerian time at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Rabat, in their final Group B match at the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in Morocco, Premium Times reports.

Where things stand

  • North Korea: 6 points, 12 goals scored and one conceded, already top. They are the defending champions and four-time winners.
  • Nigeria: 3 points after a 2-1 defeat by Poland (Oluebube Umejiaku scored) and a 2-0 win over Puerto Rico (Oluwakemi Adegbuyi and substitute Precious Oscar).
  • Poland: 3 points; Puerto Rico: 0.

A win guarantees Nigeria a place in the knockout rounds. A draw would be enough if Poland lose to Puerto Rico; otherwise Nigeria would hope to go through as one of the best third-placed teams, where goal difference could matter.

History between them

Both countries have played at all nine editions since 2008, and the series stands at one win each: Nigeria won 3-2 in 2010 and North Korea 3-0 in 2016. Nigeria's best finish is third place in 2022. Coach Akeem Busari's side will look to Adegbuyi, Umejiaku and Oscar for goals.
