Dangote Cement's pre-tax profit jumps 41.5% to ₦1.47 trillion
Revenue rose almost 20% in nine months and the group swung from net debt to net cash.

Lagos — Dangote Cement made a pre-tax profit of ₦1.47 trillion in the nine months to 30 September, up 41.5% from ₦1.04 trillion a year earlier, according to unaudited results filed with the Nigerian Exchange on 27 October.
The numbers
- Revenue: ₦3.77 trillion, up 19.6%.
- Operating profit: ₦1.57 trillion, up 27.8%.
- Profit after tax: ₦974.79 billion, up 31.2%; earnings per share ₦58.37.
- Finance costs fell 58%, the main driver of the jump in profit.
- Net debt of about ₦310 billion turned into net cash of about ₦115 billion.
Pre-tax margin widened to about 39%. Against that, foreign-exchange losses rose to ₦40.77 billion, the tax bill climbed 67% and haulage costs rose 23.5%.
The shares closed at ₦1,341.90 on results day, up 9.8%, and have more than doubled this year. Analysts say keeping margins up as materials and transport costs rise, and funding ₦2.31 trillion in commitments, are the next tests.
