The Ethiopian Securities Exchange (ESX) has admitted PrizeWorth Investment Bank as a trading member, bringing the number of firms authorised to trade on it to nine, BusinessDay reports.

PrizeWorth received its membership certificate at the exchange's Addis Ababa headquarters after being licensed by the Ethiopian Capital Market Authority. It can now execute trades for clients — the usual route by which investors reach listed securities.

A young market growing up

The ESX is one of Africa's newest exchanges. It set out to have nine listings by the end of Ethiopia's fiscal year in July 2026, and aims for 50 listed companies by 2030 and 90 within its first decade. More brokers means more ways for Ethiopians to invest at home; Dangote's plan to list 10% of its Ethiopian fertiliser business on the ESX was announced this month.
