An ounce lost about 3% worldwide, nearing $3,900 for the first time since October 2025, as oil above $118 revived inflation fears.

Cairo — Gold prices held steady in Egypt on Saturday after a sharp fall on world markets, according to analysis from Gold Bullion.
Today's prices in Egypt, per gram
- 24 carat: E£7,148
- 21 carat, the most traded: E£6,255
- 18 carat: E£5,361
- Gold pound: E£50,040
Why gold fell
An ounce lost about 3% to $3,914, approaching $3,900 for the first time since October 2025. Oil above $118 a barrel, up nearly 15% in October, has revived inflation fears, and strong US growth has raised the odds of a Federal Reserve rate rise in December.
Higher rates make gold less attractive than savings products that pay interest. Some investors are also selling gold to cover losses on stocks. Markets are now watching the Fed, oil and US inflation.
