In Kinshasa, an exhibition puts Africa's modern masters beside today's artists
"Échos: Mémoires & Transmissions" at Galerie Palanca brings together work from ten African countries and runs until February.

Kinshasa — A group exhibition in Kinshasa is setting pioneers of African painting in conversation with the continent's contemporary artists.
"Échos: Mémoires & Transmissions" opened at Galerie Palanca on 11 October and runs until 11 February 2027. Its painting, sculpture, photography, installation and performance take up identity, memory, restitution, city life and African futurism.
The work comes from artists linked to the DRC, Cameroon, Mali, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Angola, Nigeria, Senegal, Ghana and South Africa.
Curator Julie Theys Tshiongo told Actualite.cd that the show traces how art has moved from modern to contemporary artists, drawing on the legacy of the elders to shine a light on the artists of today, with works that echo the history of Africa, its diaspora and the Caribbean.
