The 65th FirstBank Lagos Amateur Open Golf Championship will tee off on 16 November at the golf section of Ikoyi Club 1938, with ₦34.5 million on offer in the professional category and ₦10 million for the winner.

The week starts with a caddie competition on 16 November, followed by the Championship Kitty and, on Thursday 19 November, the Corporate Challenge for Charity. The main amateur championship runs from 20 to 22 November over 54 holes, for players with handicaps from 0 to 9.

The championship is certified by the World Amateur Golf Ranking.

"In the game of golf, success is never accidental," said FirstBank chief executive Olusegun Alebiosu, through a representative, as the bank renewed its sponsorship.

Ikoyi Club chairman Akinwumi Akintola called the 65th edition a milestone, and golf captain Afolabi Balogun said the tournament had become an important platform for developing the game in Nigeria.
