Nigeria's artisans build the country. Every house in Lagos, every estate in Abuja and every shortlet on the Lekki corridor stands because a bricklayer, plumber, electrician, tiler or painter turned up and did the work. Yet for many skilled tradespeople, the job itself is the easy part. The hard part is everything around it: finding steady work, agreeing a fair price, and getting paid on time.

Proptiva Africa, the Lagos-based diaspora property company, wants to change that. Its Proptiva Vendor Network connects vetted artisans and service providers with property owners who live abroad, need people they can trust on the ground, and are ready to pay for quality. Its message to tradespeople is direct: "Do great work. We'll keep you busy."

What the Proptiva Vendor Network offers artisans

Proptiva manages building, repairs, security and maintenance for diaspora homeowners across Lagos, Abuja and Accra. Instead of artisans chasing clients one by one, the network brings the jobs to them:

  • Steady, real jobs: repairs, installations, renovations and full builds, matched to your trade and location
  • Clear scopes: every job comes with an agreed scope, timeline and price before you start — no guesswork, no surprise demands
  • Dependable pay: payment is released once the work passes inspection and is approved, and Proptiva handles the client side, so there is no chasing invoices; larger jobs can be paid in agreed milestones
  • A name that travels: vendors who pass vetting earn a Verified badge, and a record of approved jobs brings repeat work and referrals
  • Free to join: there is no application fee and no joining fee; you quote for each job, and the agreed price is what you are paid

Why artisans in the service industry should join now

Diaspora Nigerians and Ghanaians spend heavily on property back home, but they cannot be on site. What they look for — and what they will pay for — is trust you can see. That is exactly what the network is built around. Artisans who can show professional standards stand out from the crowd and get chosen again and again.

For a skilled worker, that means moving from one-off jobs found by word of mouth to a pipeline of well-scoped work, a digital track record, and a verified professional identity that can travel across cities. It is also a step towards formalising Africa's huge informal trades sector — giving craftsmen and women the tools of a modern business without having to build one alone.

Trades Proptiva is looking for

The network is recruiting across more than 20 trades, including:

Plumbers, electricians, carpenters, painters, masons and bricklayers, tilers, HVAC and AC technicians, welders and fabricators, roofers, landscapers, general contractors, interior designers, surveyors, architects, cleaning services, security services, furniture and upholstery makers, POP and ceiling specialists, borehole and water engineers, and solar and inverter installers.

Proptiva says artisans whose trade is not listed should apply anyway; the network keeps growing.

How to join the Proptiva Vendor Network

1. Apply online — tell Proptiva about your business, your trade and where you work. It takes about two minutes at vendornetwork.proptivaafrica.com. 2. Get vetted — a real person reviews every application, checks your experience and references, and looks at samples of your work. 3. Onboard — approved vendors agree to the network's standards and set up the Proptiva vendor workspace in the Proptiva app. 4. Work and get paid — receive jobs and bid invitations, post progress photos, and get paid when your work is approved.

The standards that win clients' trust

Every vendor signs up to the same professional standards:

  • Photo proof: before, during and after photos and videos for every job
  • On time, as agreed: turn up when booked and flag problems early
  • Quality workmanship: proper materials, a clean site and finishing you would be proud to show
  • Honest pricing: clear, itemised quotes, with any change agreed in writing
  • Professional conduct: respect for clients' homes, tenants and neighbours
  • Safety first on every site

Vendors also stand behind their work. Every job carries Proptiva's Workmanship Guarantee to the client — 12 months on installation and building work, six months on minor repairs — and vendors agree to return and fix faults in their own work during that period. Proptiva inspects first, and damage from misuse, wear and tear, storms or other people's work is never put on the artisan.
