After being displaced to Atbara, in River Nile State, Muath returned to inspect his home alongside several other residents. Like many others, he had been forced to flee as fighting between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces intensified in the area. The Sudanese government describes the Rapid Support Forces as rebel forces.
