ABUJA, Nigeria – President of the Nigerian Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has called for stronger economic cooperation between Nigeria and Germany to attract investment, improve electricity supply, promote industrial development and create jobs.

Akpabio made the call in Abuja while receiving a delegation of the German Parliament’s Committee on Economic Cooperation and Development, led by Professor Wolfgang Stefinger.

In an address titled “Let Friendship Become Factories,” the Senate President said Nigeria and Germany had maintained more than six decades of friendship and mutual trust, which should now translate into tangible economic benefits for citizens of both countries.

He proposed the establishment of a structured Nigeria-Germany Parliamentary Dialogue to strengthen cooperation and improve engagement between lawmakers from both countries.

Akpabio also called for closer collaboration in the energy sector, skills development, investment financing and regular follow-up on agreed commitments.
