Munich — Morocco midfielder Ismael Saibari left Bayern Munich's Bundesliga match against Borussia Dortmund in the 29th minute on Saturday after appearing to hurt his knee.
Saibari, 24, went down in Dortmund's penalty area after a challenge with goalkeeper Gregor Kobel, moments after missing a good chance. He could not put weight on his leg and needed help from Bayern's medical staff to reach the dressing room.
Lothar Matthäus, the former Germany international now working as a Sky analyst, said it would be wrong to diagnose from afar, though he noted that the position of the knee could point to a serious injury.
The extent of the damage is not yet clear, and further examinations are expected. Morocco World News says the injury adds to concerns for the national team over injured internationals ahead of coming fixtures.
